About the speakers
Emily Alonso
Principal Consultant & CEO, Impact Allies
Emily Alonso is the Principal Consultant & CEO of Impact Allies, LLC where she supports a portfolio of nonprofits in the education and workforce development space to improve their work-based learning and internship program efforts geared towards young people.
Working closely with LA-Tech.org to place over 200 young people from marginalized communities in paid tech internships, Emily has spent the last two years honing in on best practices for a virtual internship. She has worked closely with young people and employers to develop an ideal week-by-week virtual internship experience including professional development and accountability practices that help maintain the integrity and value of the experience.
Currently, Emily is pursuing a PhD in Education at UC Davis, with her research in online learning, workforce development and Community Colleges greatly informing her consulting practice. She holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration USC and a Bachelor's in Community and Regional Development from UC Davis.
Kaulyn Lee-McNeill
Executive Assistant, Q&A
Kaulyn Lee-McNeill is the Executive Assistant to the President and Co-Founder of Q&A, Suzy Ryoo. Kaulyn also helps run the day to day operations of the company along with assisting in directing the internship program.
Q&A is a music tech startup on a mission to empower the independent future of the music industry. Recently, Q&A launched software & services platform Venice as a community built to level up independent artists & entrepreneurs including Erick the Architect, Thuy & Kota the Friend.
Magali Ramirez
Director of Finance and Operations, Comparably
Magali Ramirez is the Director of Finance and Operations at Comparably. Prior to this role, she worked in finance and operations at Amazon, Google, and McCafferty & Company, a media & tech-focused investment bank. She is a graduate of UCLA and obtained her MBA at UCLA Anderson.
Magali serves on the board of the Ascend Education Fund, and has been a mentor and volunteer with the Riordan Programs, Girls Who Code, and the UCLA Alumni Association.
